2017 Trends: Band or DJ? Try BOTH
Wedding planning brings about some of the hardest decisions future brides and grooms will ever have to make. Local or destination? Extravagant or intimate? Band or DJ?
While some people prefer the classic sounds of tracks mixed by a DJ, others enjoy the sounds of live and unique covers of their favorite hits. So how does one POSSIBLY choose between these two music opposites? What if I told you, you didn’t have to!
How to have both a band AND a DJ
Have a band first, and then have a DJ: A live musician is a wonderful addition to any wedding. Even if you decided on a DJ for your reception, you can liven up other parts of the day such as your ceremony or cocktail hour. Whether it’s the soothing sound of a violin, the romantic tones of a harp, or the jazzy beats and vocals of a Sinatra-style quartet, incorporating musical instruments early in your wedding is a great way to have the best of both worlds.
Have a DJ and musicians at the same time: You must think I’m crazy, but this is all the rage at events recently. I know the first thing that comes to your mind is Woah; does this girl know what a budget is? But let me elaborate; you don’t need to have an entire 10-piece band performing next to your DJ to get the sounds of this dynamic duo. Simply having a single saxophone player, or even something funky like an electric violinist is a great way to combine live music and classic hits. They can perform instrumentals solos or play to the words and are hit with the guests as they interact and play right there on the dancefloor. So when you have your heart set on having original tracks during your reception, but feel like that live music aspect is missing, this is your solution. What about seeing if that violinist is available for your cocktail hour too? BAM two for one special, you’re welcome.
